An interdisciplinary research team
Our interdisciplinary research team brings together expertise in mathematics education, teacher education, instructional technology, artificial intelligence in education, and educational research methods. We collaborate to create and research AI-enhanced learning experiences that help preservice teachers develop responsive mathematics teaching practices.
Team members

Dabae Lee
Principal Investigator · Kennesaw State University
Dabae Lee is an associate professor in the School of Instructional Technology and Innovation at Kennesaw State University. She serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) on the project. As the PI, she leads the overall design and management of the project, with particular responsibility for AI agent development, research design and methods, project evaluation, and coordination of project activities.

Corey Webel
Principal Investigator · University of Missouri
Corey Webel is the Lucy Fields-Gallup and Jeffrey Gallup Chair in Mathematics Education and an Associate Professor of mathematics education at the University of Missouri. He serves as the PI on the project. As the PI, he leads the module development, implementation, data collection, and data analysis at the University of Missouri.

Sheunghyun Yeo
Consultant · Daegu National University of Education
Sheunghyun Yeo is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics Education at Daegu National University of Education in South Korea. He serves as a Consultant on the project, providing expertise in mathematics education, AI-supported teaching and learning, and educational technology. In this role, he advises the project team on the design of AI-enhanced learning environments, mathematics instruction, teacher education, research design, and the interpretation of research findings from an educational perspective.

Burcu Alapala
Collaborating Researcher · University of Missouri
Burcu Alapala is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum at the University of Missouri. She serves as a collaborating researcher on this project. She contributes to the coordination of project activities and supports course-level implementation, research design, and the interpretation of research findings.

Rebekah Hanak
Graduate Research Assistant · University of Missouri
Rebekah Hanak is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum at the University of Missouri. She serves as a graduate research assistant in the project. She assists with implementation, data collection, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. She has also taken initiatives to automate analysis of qualitative data using AI.
